President
Lisa Nguyen Baldwin, M.Ed. is the Founder of and Head of School
at Island Montessori Academy, Inc. She has nine years of Montessori
education experience including classroom instruction, admissions
recruiting, staff development and training, crisis intervention
planning, affinity groups, diversity education, and strategic
planning. She has a curriculum and instruction degree in Conflict
Resolution and Peaceable Schools from Lesley University. As an
AmeriCorps volunteer, she worked with at-risk youth in the Pinellas
County Schools as a tutor and mentor. She was an intern with the
Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, was employed
with a quasi-state agency which developed programs for at-risk
and out of school youth, and has attended a number of diversity,
Montessori, and private school conferences. Her passion is teaching
children about equity and justice, and their role as members of
a diverse and interdependent society. She is the mother of two
beautiful and wonderful children.
Vice President and Treasurer
Peter Nguyen is a Vietnam refugee and true entrepreneur. In the
last thirty years, he has held a wide variety of different employment
positions. He is currently a real estate developer and property
manager. His personality exudes friendliness, understanding, and
intelligence. Although there are language barriers with many of
his tenants, Peter continues to do business and communicate effectively
with people from diverse backgrounds. He has taken Spanish classes,
and spent time in Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries to
better understand his tenants on a cultural level. He has experience
with engineers, scientists, town planners, and various boards
for approval of project development and property management. He
is the president and founder of Venture Realty Trust, and president
of LTP Realty, Inc., both of which do business in Massachusetts,
as well as Florida.
Assistant Vice President of Finance
Thomas Wides has been the Operations Director for the Collier
County Public Utilities Department since July 2002. Prior to this
position, he served as the Interim Administrator and the Fiscal
Operations Director for the same. Wides has been a member of the
Marco Island Kiwanis Club since 2000, and held the position of
Finance Director for 2 years. He is the designated county liaison
to the City of Marco Island for emergency (hurricane) events for
water, sewer, and solid waste issues. Before coming to Marco Island
almost 6 years ago, he held a variety of accounting positions
in Chicago including Manager of Accounting, Outside Processing
EDI Accounting Manager, Core Team Member, Project Manager, Controller,
and Payroll Supervisor. In his earlier years, his dedication and
hard work is shown through four promotions and assignment of increasingly
responsible positions in different Accounting areas including
Cost and Forecast Accounting, Production Accounting and Economic
Evaluation.
Assistant Vice President of Legal Affairs
Ashley Lupo was a Montessori preschool and elementary-schooled
child. A graduate from the University of Miami and its School
of Law and currently a partner with Roetzel and Andress, Ashley
focuses her practice on matters involving condominium and homeowners'
association law. She represents more than 100 condominium associations,
homeowners' associations, and country clubs within Collier and
Lee Counties. Her professional and community affiliations include
The Florida Bar, Collier County Bar Association, Collier County
Women's Bar Association, The Condominium and Planned Development
Committee of the Florida Bar, Marco Island YMCA, Vice President,
Board of Directors, Marco Island Rotary, Board of Directors (2001-2002),
and the Collier County Coastal Advisory Committee (2001-2002).
She has also given seminars on behalf of Building Managers International.
Ashley has two sons; the younger of which is in the Toddler Program
at IMA.
Assistant Vice President of Operations
As an owner of the family-run businesses of Marco Island Floor
Covering, Naples Bay Floor Covering, and Bonita Springs Floor
Covering, as well as Distinctive Construction, Gregory Pascale
has created an extended network of family, friends and loyal customers
over the fifteen years he has been in our community. His life
goal is to live a life he loves that is full of inspiration and
creation. He has the ability to rally and motivate volunteers
and people to get a job done. He is a graduate of culinary school
and Landmark Education and his other involvements include Naples
M.S walk, Chamber of Commerce, Marco Island Business Networking
Group, and is a member of C.B.I.A and M.I.A. He is a dedicated
businessman and husband, and father of an IMA Toddler.
Board Secretary
Sarah Asbell is a wife and mother of two young boys. She graduated
from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in Elementary
Education. She taught kindergarten in a private day care for a
year before going into the restaurant industry. After working
as an assistant manager for a national restaurant chain she decided
to go into business with her family when they bought the health
food store on Marco Island. Sarah has been partners with her sister
in Summer Day Market & Café for seven years. She is
an active member of the Marco Town Center Merchants Association,
where she has previously been a board member.
Board Representative, St. Mark's Episcopal Church
Peggy Anuta is an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church
and the Marco Island branch of the American Association of University
Women. She helped develop Stars on the Water, an after-school
tutoring program for second grade students from Tommie Barfield
Elementary. She is a certified teacher who substitutes within
the Collier County Public School District.

Parent Association
Joan Pernice was born and raised in Northern NJ and has a BA from
Rampo College of NJ. She has 15 years of experience in the financial
(banking) industry, but switched gears when she went to work with
her husband. Their family owns and operates the VanEmburgh-Sneider-Pernice
Funeral Home in Ramsey, NJ. She is well-versed in being a member
of civic organizations, committees and boards. Having served on
the Board of Directors of the Bergen Highland/Ramsey Rotary Club
and Foundation in many roles including President, Vice-President,
Secretary, Treasurer and Board Member, Joan is now an honorary
member. She has helped many organizations pilot different fundraisers
and events. Although Joan is fairly new to Marco Island, she shares
her time and talents to IMA, the YMCA of Marco Island, and St.
Mark's Church. Her daughter is in her second year in the Primary
Class.
